
Sunday August 16, 2026 – Ochre Education, an Australian not-for-profit supporting schools with evidence-based curriculum resources, today announced they have entered an exclusive agreement with SpringMath Accelerate to be the provider of SpringMath, a complete, patented mathematics MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Support) solution, in Australia and New Zealand. This partnership will provide F–12 educators throughout these two countries with access to SpringMath’s proven combination of screening, targeted classwide intervention, progress monitoring, and individual intervention to close persistent maths gaps.
Grounded in the Science of Learning and based on 20 years of research, students in the United States and Canada using SpringMath reached skill mastery milestones over 1.4 million times during the 2025–26 school year. In independent Randomised Controlled Trials, students using SpringMath are half as likely to fail mathematics assessments. “SpringMath has made a real difference in math achievement for students in North America over the past decade,’ shared Terri Soutor, Chief Executive Officer of SpringMath Accelerate. ‘We are honored and excited to partner with Ochre Education to bring educators in Australia and New Zealand this highly effective data-driven solution. Together, Ochre Education and SpringMath Accelerate have ensured Australian schools can effectively use the proven SpringMath program in delivering the Australian Curriculum and state variants. SpringMath is designed to supplement core mathematics curriculum and can be effectively used alongside the Ochre Tier 1 maths curriculum and other evidence-informed Tier 1 programs. Ochre's team of maths experts with extensive experience across Australian schools will deliver ongoing implementation support to schools and schooling systems as they adopt and sustain SpringMath use across their classrooms. The SpringMath solution will be offered to Australian schools from the 2027 school year, with the program progressively offered to schools across jurisdictions.
SpringMath begins with universal screening three times a year to identify math risk, using equivalent forms drawn from a mapped progression of 145 math skill areas that keeps measurement accurate and consistent at the right stage of instruction. This approach has earned the highest possible NCII rating for fall classification accuracy and a U.S. patent (No. 12,223,855) recognizing its novel assessments, skill mapping and screening, dynamic intervention guidance, and integrated implementation support. From those data, SpringMath automatically generates scripted lessons for teachers and paper-based practice materials for students that target the skills the whole class needs to master, calculates response to intervention weekly from students' daily practice as built-in progress monitoring, and produces the next week's classwide, small-group, and individual routines and materials. The effects are documented: efficacy has been evaluated in three RCTs with additional published research showing reduced risk, systemwide learning gains, closure of opportunity gaps, and a very low cost-to-benefit ratio.
According to SpringMath creator and internationally recognised researcher, author, and innovator in education Amanda VanDerHeyden, Ph.D., “SpringMath uses highly sensitive measures to detect risk that may not even be noticeable yet to a teacher. Behind the scenes, SpringMath identifies the instructional action a teacher should take. If more than 50% of a class hasn’t mastered a grade-level skill, classwide intervention lessons and materials will be generated for the teacher. This is the most efficient and effective way to accelerate math growth.”
