Ochre Education is pleased to announce a new 10–year partnership with the Tasmanian Government’s Department for Education, Children and Young People (DECYP) to provide new curriculum resources and lesson support for English. This partnership contributes to the Tasmanian Government’s ongoing commitment to lift literacy outcomes for all students as part of its Lifting Literacy strategy.
Ochre will be providing fully resourced text-based units across Prep to Year 10 to support all DECYP teachers to deliver evidence-based, structured literacy teaching in every classroom.
The materials will be aligned to the Australian Curriculum Version 9, and available on the Ochre platform so all schools and teachers will be able to access them. The materials build on the curriculum resources developed by Ochre in partnership with other schooling systems around the country. The materials offer tailored support for Tasmanian schools, with an emphasis on Tasmanian authors, including Tasmanian Aboriginal authors, within the curriculum reading spine.
As part of the creation of these curriculum materials, Ochre will be working with a group of teachers from Tasmanian government schools throughout 2026, sharing their experience and expertise with their Tasmanian colleagues.
The Ochre curriculum materials for Tasmanian government schools will be accompanied by a suite of professional learning offerings delivered by Ochre. This professional learning will support all teachers to confidently use the resources. Professional learning will focus on building teachers’ knowledge and understanding of how the text-based units have been developed, and how they can best be adapted and contextualised to support individual school and classroom needs.
All curriculum and lesson materials will be created and made available during the 2026 school year.
