Designed for leaders, teachers, and entire school teams, our courses focus on high-quality curriculum planning, evidence-based instructional practices, and strengthening subject-specific expertise, helping schools build and implement knowledge-rich, coherent educational frameworks.
Here’s an overview of our professional learning programs for 2025.
Planning a whole-school curriculum for school leadership teams (primary)
This year-long program is designed to guide a team of school leaders to develop a school-specific knowledge-rich and coherent curriculum across subject areas. The program aims to build knowledge of what a high-quality, sequenced curriculum looks like, and how teams of teachers can work together to create a curriculum specific to their context. Sessions include a mix of curriculum knowledge-building alongside personal coaching and support. Opportunity to connect and share experiences with other schools who are also committed to building coherent, knowledge-rich curriculum underpinned by explicit and responsive pedagogical approaches.

Developing a knowledge-rich unit
This short program is designed to support teams who are looking to create knowledge-rich, coherent unit plans. The program aims to help teams of teachers to identify the key elements of a knowledge-rich unit, and then plan and create a unit of their own. During the program, participants will have the opportunity to gain feedback from the Ochre curriculum team on their units. Units developed as part of this program could be drawn from any part of the curriculum.
Retrieval Practice in Mathematics: Daily Review NEW
This short program will help small teams focus on the theory behind retrieval practice and Daily Review in Mathematics. The program will help teachers understand more about types of activities most useful in Daily Review context, using different types of engagement. Teams will also look at scheduling Daily Review and how to use the information gathered through Daily Review activities.

This longer program will help small teams of school leaders understand how to align Ochre materials with their school documents. Teams will look at how to plan a curriculum using prepared materials, including how to integrate these materials with existing school materials. Teams will consider how to develop school processes to build intellectual preparation and how to preview and adapt the materials so they are suitable for their school scope and sequence and the needs of their cohorts.
Intellectual preparation for teachers: Mathematics NEW
This longer program will help small teams of teachers understand how to align Ochre materials with their school documents. Teams will look at how to plan for their class or grade using prepared materials, including how to integrate these materials with existing school materials. Teachers will consider how to preview and adapt the materials so they are suitable for their school scope and sequence and the needs of their cohorts.

Planning Using Ochre Resources: Leaders NEW
This short workshop will give school leaders a comprehensive understanding of how to help their teams of teachers use and adapt Ochre materials. This will include looking at the supports provided by Ochre, the role of Ochre materials in classrooms and how to plan a curriculum that integrates Ochre materials with current school materials. Please note that this is a free opportunity.
Develop your own novel study unit (years 3-6)
This short program is designed to support teams who are looking to write novel study units in the style of the Ochre Years 3 – 6 units. The program aims to identify the steps required in creating a high-quality study of complex texts, with schools having the opportunity to select a high-quality text to develop. During the program, participants will have the opportunity to gain feedback from the Ochre curriculum team on their units.
Teaching Primary English: Why, what and how NEW
This knowledge-building program for leaders and teachers will be delivered as a series of short modules, each covering a different aspect of evidence-based English instruction. Topics will include all aspects of instruction, from fluency to text-level writing, ensuring that teachers have a better understanding of why Ochre materials are developed the way they are, and how to best use them. This program is designed for teachers.
Year-Level Specific Mathematics NEW
This knowledge-building program for teachers is designed to build understanding of Mathematics for the year level they are teaching. Delivered a term in advance, we will take teachers through the lessons, concepts, representations and potential misconceptions for each unit.
